Our Yard

Brown Bear Dayschool & Daycare is located on a secluded acre lot on Oak Hill in New Brighton. We go outside almost every day. In the summer we play under the shade of hundred-year old sycamore trees. In winter we put on snowsuits and snowboots (I keep extras) and sled ride on a tiny slope. On rainy days, we play on the porch, which has a wonderful extended housekeeping play area set up.

 

There are many benefits from outside play, from wee ones developing balance with their barefeet on the grassy ground to an expansive sense happiness fron being uner the clear blue sky. Playing on the ground, near real dirt, has been shown to reduce the likliehood of allergies. We're familiar with all these benefits.

 

Inside, I realized the importance of creating a space we love, so I've worked with color to design a lovely aesthetically pleasing place for us to share the days.

 

The children are surrounded with high quality educational toys that make all our time quaity time.
