Infant Care

Developmentally, the first year of life is very important.

We take that seriously.

Since an infant can't get to know someone through words, they rely upon smell and touch and sound and light. Each infant has a particular mix of stimulation and comfort that allow the bonding interaction to unfold optimally. As a one-on-one caregiver, I get to know each infant well enough to make sure this need is met.

I use a variety of bouncy seats, the design of each stimulating use of legs or arms or hands. I move these seats around so the baby can see different things. I have high quality baby and toddler toys.Babies go outside here from the very begiining, bundled up to experience the snow and cold or lazing beneath our majestic sycamore trees, watching the branches sway in the gentle summer breeze.

But most important, the baby gets held and talked to. New infants get strapped to my chest for a little while every day so they can hear my heartbeat and bond to my scent. All the kids here are taught to love babies too, and be careful and gentle around them, As you might imagine, infants hear a lot of talking here and usually end up highly verbal and social.

I have good experience fully supporting breastfeeding mothers. Once the baby's ready to start eating food, I make homemade baby food from our whole foods diet. That way the baby is ready to sit at the table and eat healthy food with us when she gets older with very few eating problems.

This is a very special and extremely high quality place for infants.
